Evelien Hekkelman, MD

Hi there! I am an anesthesiologist and pain management physician integrating holistic and spiritual practices to support chronic pain relief and personal transformation. My journey began with deep curiosity and a calling to help others, which led me through the structured path of medicine. While my training focused on the science of the body, I found myself on a parallel journey of self-discovery, exploring yoga, breathwork, psychedelics, and shamanic practices. These experiences reshaped my understanding of healing, revealing the powerful connection between mind, body, and spirit. Since 2021, I have been apprenticing with shaman Aminata Fofana in African Ning shamanism, deepening my work with shadow integration, ancestral healing, and altered states of consciousness. Inspired by the therapeutic potential of psychedelics, I am currently completing training at the MIND Foundation to become a psychedelic therapist. As my own transformation unfolded, the hospital setting began to feel restrictive. While I deeply value modern medicine, I believe true healing requires a broader perspective—one that embraces both science and spirituality. This led me to launch my own company, where I balance my work as an anesthesiologist, pain physician, and integration therapist in Amsterdam. I’m also a proud mother of two.
